We strongly believe the quality starts in the vineyard. This is why we only make wine out of grapes produced in our plantation, and the results obtained in the vineyards fully meet our expectation of high quality and exclusive character of the wines we produce
A century long tradition
Our small “Boutique winery” keeps the same 1910’s architecture due to the advantages it offers to wine conservation. The acquired modern technology perfectly combines with classic and millenary winemaking techniques, ensuring a perfect control of the environmental and hygienic conditions Small vats were especially built for low volume production.
The filling and corking of the bottles is done manually with small machines in order to inspect the high quality we aim at.

We keep the balance between fruit and oak being careful not to mask the delicate fruit aromas and flavor our terroir produce.
Our aim is to produce “ top quality handcrafted” wines from grapes grown in our own estate, low production vines, with gentle and careful winemaking techniques, which best represents the spirit and character of our terroir and the essence of the Uruguay wine Country; supported by a winemaker consultant from New Zealand, Duncan Killiner

Our vineyards
We strongly believe the quality of our wines starts in the vineyard. This is why we only make wine out of grapes produced in our plantation, and the results obtained in the vineyards fully meet our expectations of high quality and exclusive character of the wines produced.
All the vineyards surrounding the winery are cultivated and harvested by hand with 20 hectares located in Canelón Chico Region close to the Rio de la Plata, completed reconverted by French stocks of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay using espaldera and Lyra system channelling adapted to each variety.
They are planted in high lands on calcareous soil, favouring a balanced harvest and providing an excellent quality grape production. .

Press Reviews:
1- Tim Atkin, The Observer, 25 February 2007 - Pizzorno Merlot Tannat 2005
… this light, yet fairly tannic red is as good as many basic red Bordeaux, and a lot more exotic. (2005 vintage)
2- Jancis Robinson MW, Financial Times, 19 November 2005- Pizzorno Merlot Tannat 2004
Very smooth and characterful from an improving source. Quite soft but very honest.(2004 vintage) |
